This gala-worthy gown is by American Designer Malcolm Starr, who is known for two eras of Creative Directorship by Youseff Rizkallah and Elinor Simmons. This dress was designed under Elinor Simmons, which helps us date it to approximately 1968.
This late 1960s maxi gown is made of a sublime metallic gold and silver lamé with stunning puffy long sleeves and the ultimate highlight- pockets!! Two front pockets are hidden amongst perfect pleating so flawless that we didn’t even notice the pocket detail when we first acquired this stunning piece!
An empire waist cut bust line and V-neck with a small modesty layer, along with a neckline that is also exquisite and unique the way it is wide across the shoulders and comes to subtle points on either side. Long zipper in back with two hook and eye closures at the top of the neck, as well as double snap closures on the wrist cuffs. There is a liner backing used on this fabric but the seams are raw and therefor unlined, see label photo for reference.
This dress has been hemmed from its original length, and a small triangle of fabric was cut from the hemmed portion to add a modesty layer at the base of the V-neckline. This modesty piece could easily be removed if desired, but unfortunately the hem could not be easily let out since a swatch of fabric was removed from the excess.

Condition: Amazing! There are a few very small drip stains on the front of the dress that are not very noticeable shown in photos, and a few rogue strands of lamé, but overall in excellent structural condition.
