This is a vintage 1940s, very collectable Waldybag. This designer 40s evening bag is the most beautiful pink blush silk satin. This stunning hand beaded and hand painted purse was made by H. Wald & Co. in England in the late 1940s, early 1950s.
Waldybags were made by H Wald & Co. which was founded in 1934, Waldybags reached their peak in the 1940-50s. Waldy bags were very popular with Queen Elizabeth Consort Of George VI and her daughters our present Queen, and the Princess Margaret.
The unusual decorative technique for this luxury evening bag was developed and executed by Florence Campbell and sold by H. Wald & Co. after the Second World War. Minuscule glass beads were applied to the flowers while the paint was still wet, creating a glistening, textured effect.
Markings hard to read: Made by H. Wald & Co., Waldybag made in England.
